Take a Stand. For the Long Haul.

Post by Debra L. Ness, President, National Partnership for Women & Families Action Fund

In these uncertain times and in this unprecedented political environment, we must fight back against all those who want to deny women’s progress, reverse our gains and undermine our country’s values.

Now more than ever, every single one of us must take a stand against inequality, hate and injustice of all kinds.

We must stand up for our sisters and brothers. Our neighbors and friends. Our fellow citizens.

In Charlottesville. In Houston. In every community across our great country.

It means standing up and speaking out every single time women’s health, well-being and economic security are under attack.

It means challenging President Trump’s morally reprehensible, anti-woman, anti-worker, anti-immigrant, anti-civil rights agenda and calling out the extremists who support it.

It means continuing to defend the Affordable Care Act against sabotage and repeal — and to save Medicaid.

It means fighting back against each and every attack on Planned Parenthood, abortion access, birth control and reproductive rights.

It means blocking the Trump administration’s attempts to weaken overtime protections, undermine fair pay for women and people of color, and marginalize transgender people.

It means advocating for a strong, inclusive and responsible paid family and medical leave plan — not some sham proposal that simply sounds good as a talking point or tweet.

In short, it means resisting and persisting. Every day.

Together, we are in this for the long haul. And together, we will prevail.
