Reproductive Freedom and Economic Freedom Are Connected

We all should have the freedom to decide if and when to grow a family, and the freedom to support and take time to care for one.

While abortion bans are multiplying in a post-Dobbs world, our country is also one of the only in the world with no form of national paid leave. Only one in four private sector workers have paid family leave through their jobs. None of the states without access to abortion care have paid family leave programs.

Reproductive freedom and paid family leave are widely supported policies that are crucial for our economic security and our health, and there are bills to advance them both in Congress.

The Women's Health Protection Act (S.701/H.R.12) would re-establish the nationwide right to abortion care and the FAMILY Act (S.1714/H.R.3481) would create for the first time the permanent right to up to 12 weeks of paid, job-protected comprehensive family and medical leave for all American workers.

That’s why the National Partnership for Women & Families Action Fund and Paid Leave for All Action are working hard to advance these important bills.
